JOB PURPOSE
Serve as the primary point of contact for the Office of the Sheriff on all administrative and executive matters. Act as a trusted liaison between the Sheriff, Chief Deputy, command staff, County officials, external agencies, and the public. The Executive Assistant will manage the Sheriff’s schedule, coordinate communications, oversee special projects, and support operational and administrative functions of the Sheriff’s Office.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Assistant to the Sheriff performs a broad range of high-level administrative and executive support duties, including but not limited to:
Manage an extremely active and complex calendar for the Sheriff
Coordinate meetings, briefings, and command staff schedules
Prepare, track, and maintain agendas, minutes, and official records
Draft, review, and manage confidential correspondence and official communications
Manage public records and Freedom of Information requests in coordination with legal and administrative staff
Serve as a gatekeeper and liaison, ensuring efficient access to the Sheriff’s time while maintaining operational priorities
Communicate directly and on behalf of the Sheriff with County officials, law enforcement partners, vendors, staff, and members of the public
Research, prioritize, and follow up on issues directed to the Sheriff, including sensitive or confidential matters
Support internal communications between the Sheriff and divisions within the Sheriff’s Office
Anticipate needs and keep the Sheriff informed of deadlines, commitments, and emerging issues
Coordinate travel, itineraries, and briefing materials as required
Manage special projects assigned by the Sheriff that may impact agency operations or community engagement
Handle competing priorities under tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and professionalism

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience required
Minimum of three (3) years of executive-level administrative support experience
Prior experience in law enforcement, public safety, or government strongly preferred
Experience with internal and external communications and public interaction
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and web-based communication platforms
